Officers were conducting an investigation at the Edgewood Motel, located at 38 Jericho Turnpike in Jericho, at about 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, when they saw a 2005 Ford F-150 leave the parking lot and travel west on Jericho Turnpike, the Nassau County Police Department said.  The Ford failed to come to a complete stop near the intersection of Cambridge Avenue and Warren Street in Westbury, and police pulled the vehicle over near the intersection of Cambridge Street and Oxford Street, NCPD reported.

Reginald Dunlap, a 45-year-old Silver Spring resident, was sentenced to 55 years in prison for murdering his wife, Lauren Charles in 2021, authorities said. Lauren's body was found inside the couple's home in March 2021, Lauren DeMarco, the director of public affairs for the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, said.  Dunlap forced a pillowcase down her throat and beat to her death with a decorative Buddha statue, DeMarco said.  Dunlap then poured bleach on her body and ransacked their bedroom in order to stage a robbery at their home, police said.

On Sept. 29, the armed suspect walked into the First Community Bank, located in the 11000 block of Midlothian Turnpike, and demanded the teller hand over money, according to the FBI. A lengthy investigation led to the detentions of both boys, one from Paterson, the other from Clifton, for the Sept. 3 shooting, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M.
