Order Up! First Campus Diner In New England Opens Its Doors At SHU
The first on-campus diner in New England will be serving up ‘50s and ‘60s favorites for the student body and anyone else who’d like to stop by for a patty melt, milkshake or creamy slice of cheesecake.
Named for SHU President John J. Petillo, the diner seats about 110 people inside — with 40 more outside in the warmer months.
“Having a diner on campus is just another unique aspect of our university,” Petillo said when the eatery was announced. “This retro eatery will not only nourish our students with delicious, hearty meals, but it will provide them with fun and entertainment. It will also give them a chance to unwind and meet with friends before getting back to their studies and extracurricular activities.”
Featuring jukeboxes and a big screen TV for vintage films, JP’s offers a take-out menu and will stay open until 3 a.m. on weekends.
